the letters are for SPAM control.. spam is sent out via computer to addresses, but they are stumped by a bunch of random letters.. can't duplicate them.. and it would take the computer forever.. so it just is a protection for someone who has likely gotten a lot of junk on their blog.. wish I'd thought of that a few weeks ago when someone sent me over 100 comments.. all nearly the same, and all connected to ads.. grrrrrr..
Well, your mom answered that one for you :) I didn't have it on at first, but I kept getting these advertizement type comments, so I decided to do this- boy has it made a difference. It is a pain sometimes, but all in all it is worth it not having to delete all these fake comments :P
