ITS FINALLY HERE......FISHING SEASON

I am so excited that fishing season is here. If you call and we are not here...guess where we are...yeah, if you stop over and we are not here...guess where we are....yeah....thats right...we are fishing. Cory will be catching tiny little shiners, and I will be putting him to shame catching Monster Bass! Bait of Choice....you don't even need to ask me twice...well, maybe ask me twice, I cant remember the name...shimato???? anyways some japanese name...color...pumpkin...perhaps some salamanders, or power bait in motor oil color...yeah...look for my "fish postings" later on! This photo is taken of Isaac and Cory at the cottage. Isaac won the trophy for (smallest) fish....he was also the only entry for his age category.....ha....go Isaac! This year Esther will be in the same age bracket....battle of the Valentines....I am also looking forward to going to Blacklake this year. This is the annual Valentine Fishing Trip. We Fish, we eat, we fish, we swim, we fish, we read books, we fish, we pull Isaac out of the water from falling in, we FISH...and when we are finished...we get some last minute FISHING in. (We like to Fish)....Bait of Choice in BlackLake? Minnows, spinners, perhaps some buzz baits...and always that Japanese bait...whats it called? We are trying to catch bass, walleye, and hook into a muskie....We just cant wait!!!!!!!! First things first....get fishing liscense!

From Cory:

The name of the baits are called Yamamoto or Kinami. They are both made by Yamamoto. Kinami are sold at Wal-Mart and are about $3.00 cheaper and work just as well. I prefer the colors Red Shad, Black, and Pumpkin w/Black Specks. These colors are deadly on bass all year long.

As for Wendy's comment about catching the "Big Monster Bass." Just ask her who has the bass on the wall, the bass in the freezer to go on the wall, and the picture of the big bass from the cottage. I'll give you one guess, and it ain't Wendy!!!

Oh Contrair Monfrair (sp?)....You might have caught some big fish in your time, but might I remind you that the biggest one you ever caught was a "SUCKER"...you seem to be quite skilled at putting the hook through your own hand, on my back (on our honeymoon no less), and then on my face...Yep...Youve got skill alright. Let's face it ...What you catch in quality, I make up in Quantity...I catch more fish than you every fishing season, and that is with using mostly nightcrawlers!!! I dont know Cor...we might have to make a little wager....Hmmmmmm?

Mom, Trout are different...that is river fishing, we are Lake fishing. There really is a difference...That is actually one fish I really dont care about...though I still get the trout stamp just because the river runs behind the house. They dont have trout at the cottage.

THE BLIND WAL-MART CLERK

Wendy goes into Wal-Mart to buy a rod and reel for Isaac's birthday. She doesn't know which one to get so she just grabs one and goes over to the counter.

A Wal-Mart associate is standing there wearing dark shades. She says, "Excuse me, sir. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel? He says, "Ma'am, I'm completely blind; but if you'll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything you need to know about it from the sound it makes. She doesn't believe him but drops it on the counter anyway. He says, "That's a six-foot Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 10-LB. Test line. It's a good all around combination; and it's on sale this week for only $20.00." She says, "It's amazing that you can tell all that just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I'll take it!" Thinking... even if it's too big for Isaac it will be perfect for Cory. As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor. "Oh, that sounds like a Master Card," he says. She bends down to pick it up and accidentally breaks wind. At first she is really embarrassed, but then realizes there is no way the blind clerk could tell it was she who tooted. Being blind, he wouldn't know that she was the only person around.

The man rings up the sale and says, "That'll be $34.50 please." Wendy is totally confused by this and asks, "Didn't you tell me it was on sale for $20.00? How did you get $34.50?" He replies, "Yes, Ma'am. The rod and reel is $20.00, but the Duck Call is $11.00 and the Catfish Bait is $3.50."

Question of the day.... Which is better - Homemade catfish bait or that Shimato/Yamamoto/Kinami stuff? Ha ha ha

While we are on the topic of big fish, I may as well toot Keith's horn on this one...

2 years ago, on the same day, on Lake Arthur, Keith proclaimed "Today I'm gonna catch the BIG ONE!" and promptly hooked my friend Carrie right in the forehead! Some time later he literally caught Shamu and her twin babies right off the shore across from the swimming area!!!! Imagine that!!!! Does it matter that they were full of air?

Fun stuff!

Oh J.J., That was a really attractive story you had there! Bye the way...the answer to your question was the yamamoto...hands down!!!!! That is funny about Keith hooking your friend....Cory wonders why I don't want to fish with him on the floating dock?! HA
